The Horsham Cycle Challenge is a local initiative designed to get more people riding bikes. It is run through Love To Ride, with backing from West Sussex County Council, and it operates as a free competition aimed mainly at workplaces.
The format rewards participants for encouraging colleagues to give cycling a try, with prizes on offer for those who sign up the most people from their workplace. For anyone who works from home or is self-employed, that side of it does not really apply, but it is still possible to take part as an individual.
A simple way to track your rides
Alongside the website, the challenge offers a free smartphone GPS app developed by Love To Ride. The app records your journeys and publishes the results, including distance covered and calories burned, to the challenge website. It is a straightforward tool that does the job without unnecessary complication.
Still time to take part
More than 500 people across Horsham had already signed up, which suggests the initiative has struck a chord locally. Even for those who register late, there is still value in joining for the final week and a chance to win a prize.
Anyone living in Horsham who wants to get involved can visit the challenge website, add their details and get out on their bike.
Finding other cycling events
For those looking beyond this particular challenge, local cycling clubs are a good starting point for finding out about rides and events in the area.
